Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. In 1992, she was appointed the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. The reporting she did included plenty of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled extensively with President Reagan during summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
